The Clay Barn in Bangalow is the perfect place to explore your creative side and take part in a fun and educational ceramic workshop or pottery class.
With decades of experience, our team of expert potters offer an array of classes for those of all skill levels – from beginner to advanced.
Please note, all workshops are currently on hold until lockdown ends!
Our hands-on workshops are designed to help you explore your creative side. Whatever your skill level, you can choose from one or two-day pottery classes that will teach you the basics of clay work and even introduce you to new techniques. From hand-building, sculpting and wheel throwing, we’ll make sure you have a great time while learning something new. We also offer specialty ceramic workshops where you will be guided how to make your own tableware, vases and other functional ware. The Clay Barn in Bangalow is located in the picturesque North Coast of New South Wales, surrounded by lush countryside and quaint villages. During your stay, you’ll be able to explore the beautiful national parks nearby or take a leisurely stroll through the vibrant streets of Byron Bay. When you’re not busy crafting there are plenty of stunning beaches, waterfalls, weekly local fresh produce markets and monthly community markets to visit and inspire your creations.
The Clay Barn workshops are designed to be educational and fun. You’ll get the chance to work with professional potters, who will guide you through every step of your creative journey.
We offer several regular fun and social workshops and classes at The Clay Barn.There is the FRIDAY NIGHT MONTHLY SOCIAL which combines the three loves of our lives - pottery, platters and people. The FLORALS AND VASES WORKSHOP where you can learn the art of floral arrangement with Jess Davies @studio.rouje. Our very popular HAND-BUILT TABLEWARE COURSE were you'll be guided to create 9 pieces of tableware using methods of pinching, coiling and slab construction.CLAY AND SIP AT CACTHAUS is a 2 hour hand building social gathering every second Saturday at our lush retail outlet full of exotic plants and ceramics in Bangalow next to The Woods cafe.Our MONDAY SOCIAL CLUB is for those with previous clay experience. It's an opportunity to join our instructors Zani & Grace for three hours every Monday on the wheel or at the table using hand building techniques and experiment with different clay bodies and glazes.
We also offer private classes for those looking to refine and hone their existing skills: PRIVATE HAND BUILDING, PRIVATE WHEEL THROWING, 2 PERSON CLAY DATE & PRIVATE TUTORING.
